2023/2024 SCHOOL YEAR
Open Night 2024

We will hold our Annual Open Night on Thursday 18th January 2024 at 7pm.                                                                                    We are organising and hosting a Science Fair during the school day on the 18th January. We will also be incorporating Grandparents’ & VIP Day into this day. At 12pm, Grandparents and Very Important People in the children’s lives will be invited to attend a special mass in St. Brigid’s Church with our pupils. After mass, Grandparents can visit the school for a cup of tea and to view our Science Fair. From 7pm – 8pm current and prospective parents and pupils are invited to attend our Open Night and Science Fair.


Admission to Junior Infants 2024

Application Forms for Admission to Junior Infants 2024 are being accepted from 8th – 31st January.                                            Application Forms can be downloaded from the school website, by contacting the school office on 0596473179 or by emailing talbotstownprincipal@gmail.com

Hot School Lunches
We are delighted that our school is one of the latest group of schools that will be offering Hot School Lunches to all pupils from April 2024. The tender process has begun. We will update you when we have any further information.
 
'Revised Parental Complaints Procedure
A revised Parental Complaints Procedure comes into effect on 1st January 2024 in all schools. A copy of this can be found in the School Policies section of our website. 

Christmas Concert
On the 14th of December we held our Christmas concert in St. Brigid's Church, Talbotstown. The children opened the night with "Once in Royal David's City". Next Junior Infants performed "Nursery Rhyme Nativity" and Senior Infants to 6th Class performed "Hosanna Rock". After the main shows, the children showed off their musical talents on the Glockenspiels and Bucket Drums. The concert closed with "O, Holy Night" and "There is Peace". 
The PA treated all the children to hot chocolate and cookies in the school to finish off a lovely evening. 

Christmas Craft Fair and Raffle
We held our Christmas Craft Fair and Raffle on Sunday 3rd December in Germaines, Baltinglass. Thank you to all who organised and supported the event. Just over €3,300 was raised for the school. 

Student Council
Our Student Council held a Crazy Hair and Sock Day fundraiser on Friday 17th November. They are using the money raised to organise a Christmas surprise for all classes. Further details to follow!

Hallowe'en Dress Up Day

Well done to all pupils and staff for the amazing costumes that were on show today.
Thank you to all the parents who baked and supported the PA's Annual Cake Sale and guess the Jelly Jar. A huge €754.70 was raised.
School will close for Midterm Break from Monday 30th October to Friday 3rd November. 
We look forward to seeing all our pupils on Monday 6th November. Preparations and rehearsals for our Christmas Concert will be in full swing when we return. Our Christmas Concert will take place in St.Brigid's Church Talbotstown on Thursday 14th December at 6.30pm. 

Parent-Teacher Meetings
Parent-Teacher Meetings will take place on Wednesday 25th & Thursday 26th October. We look forward to having the opportunity to meet with all parents.

Book Fair 2023
The Scholastic Book Fair returned to our school for the first time since Covid-19. Thank you to everyone who purchased books during the week.  Scholastic have donated €565.32 worth of books to the school. 

Cumann na mBunscol 2023
A huge well done to our mixed Boys and Girls Football team who reached the semi-finals of Cumann na mBunscol this year. A big "thank you" to Ms. Kealy for organising the matches. 

Friday Assembly
Each Friday, all classes will gather together for assembly. During assembly class teachers will give out their Student of the Week and Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine awards. Keep an eye out on Class Dojo for the pictures each week. 

30th August 2023

A big welcome to 16 new Junior Infant pupils who have joined our school. Our new Junior Infants are: Emily, Ruby, Michael, Conal, Ben, Colin, Katie, Cassie, Lily, Conor, Mary, Alex, Evan, Oisín, Seán Óg & Paddy. We also extend a warm welcome to our new Junior Infant teacher Ms. Ciara Lyons and to Ms. Mary Dillon who have joined our staff. We hope you will all be very happy during your time in Scoil Naomh Bríd.



2022/2023 SCHOOL YEAR
28th June 2023
School closes at 12.30pm today for Summer Holidays. We wish all our pupils a very enjoyable summer
School will re-open on Wednesday, 30th August 2023 at 9.10am.

21st June 2023
Tonight we hosted a Graduation Celebration for our 17 wonderful 6th Class pupils. 
We wish them every success as they transition to Secondary school. 

12th - 16th June: Active Week
The children are enjoying lots of activity this week! Gymnastics, Box Aerobics, Football, Taekwondo and Sports Day are on the menu this week. 

PA Movie & Pizza Night
The PA treated the children to a movie & pizza night on 1st June.
A great night was had by all.

Cumann na mBunscol Hurling/Camogie Final
Well done to our 5th & 6th Class mixed Hurling/Camogie team who played in the Cumann na mBunscol Final on 31st May. They played a great game. 

Dave's Jungle
Thank you to our wonderful PA for organising a surprise visit from Dave's Jungle for all the classes. The children learned about reptiles and got to hold a snake, a tarantula and a chameleon!!

Green School News
Our Green School Committee and Ms. O'Brien were informed that our school has achieved its 3rd Green School Flag. Well done to the committee and all the pupils for their efforts.

Secondary School Visit
Our 6th Class pupils went on a visit to their new secondary schools. They had the opportunity to meet staff, have a tour of the school and view sample timetables. Thank you to Scoil Chonglais and Coláiste Eoin for facilitating the visits. 

Confirmation
Congratulations to our 6th Class pupils who celebrated their Confirmation on 27th April.
We hope you had a lovely celebration with your family. 

Lucy's Run
The PA are holding their annual Lucy's Run on Sunday 26th March at 10.30am at the school (W91 H762). Registration opens at 9.30am. The run is being held in memory of Lucy Hayes and in aid of the Irish Cancer Society and Scoil Naomh Bríd. 

FAI 5-a-side Soccer
Well done to the three teams from our school who took part in 5-a-side soccer blitz in Ballon on 23rd March. 

First Penance
We had 5 pupils celebrate the sacrament of Penance for the first time on Wednesday 22nd March. 

Active Flag
Our first Active Flag Committee have been set up. They have chosen a slogan for our Active Flag programme and have come up with a 4-week Active Break programme for all classes. Our school has a dedicated Twitter page to our Active Flag - please find the details below.

Board of Management Table Quiz - Friday 24th February in Germaines Baltinglass @8pm
The Board of Management is looking forward to hosting a table quiz in Germaines, Baltinglass in aid of our school. The quiz will begin at 8pm. Ciarán O'Toole is our MC and Quiz master for the night. We look forward to seeing you all there. 

Catholic Schools Week: 22nd - 29th January
As part of our Catholic Schools Week Celebrations, we are delighted to host Grandparents & VIP Day on Wednesday 25th January. The children will be visited by their Grandparents and Very Important People in their lives. As this year's theme is Walking together to celebrate, all Grandparents and VIPs will hit our Walking Track with the pupils before visiting our classrooms where they will be invited to play games, read stories and share experiences of their school days with their grandchildren.

Admission September 2023
Admission to Junior Infants and other classes for September 2023 will open from the 5th - 26th January 2023. Our Admission Notice and Applications for Admission can be found on our website in the About scroll down menu. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us. We cannot accept Applications prior to 5th January 2023. 

Open Night - Wednesday 14th December 7-8pm
We are delighted invited parents, current and prospective, to come to our school. On the night you can visit all classrooms, meet the staff and meet our wonderful pupils. To finish off the night, everyone will be treated to a performance of Christmas songs sung by all our classes. We hope to see you there. 

Student Council
Following an election and creation of campaign posters and speeches, our new Student Council has been formed. 
Well done to the new committee members: Tony, Ralf, Nathan, Charlie, Morgan, Erin & Lauren. During their first jam packed meeting they assigned roles of Chairperson, Secretary & Treasurer. They have also decided to organise a Christmas Art & Craft competition for all pupils. The will hold an "Express Yourself Day" on 2nd December as a mini fundraiser to purchase prizes for their Art & Craft competition. 


18th November 2022
Our 5th & 6th class took part in a mixed hurling/camogie blitz in Kiltegan GAA Grounds today. The team won all their matches. Well done to all involved. 

Cumann na mBunscol Finals
Congratulations and well done to our boys team who played in the recent Cumann na mBunscol finals in Carlow Centre of Excellence. Thank you to Ms. Kealy for her dedication to all our teams.

Staffing Allocation
As a result of a rise in our pupil numbers we will have a 4th mainstream class teacher for the 2023/2024 school year.
Following a successful appeal by our Board of Management, we have been granted the 4th mainstream class teacher for the remainder of this school year. The position is now advertised and we look forward to welcoming a new member of staff to our team.

Hallowe'en Dress Up Day

Well done to all pupils and staff for the amazing costumes that were on show today. 

Thank you to all the parents who baked and supported the return of our Annual Cake Sale. A huge €635 was raised. 


Cumann na mBunscol 2022
A huge well done to our Boys and Girls Football teams who have each played 3 matches in the last couple of weeks. The Boys have won all 3 of their matches and the Girls have won 2 of theirs. Both teams are now through to the Semi-Finals. Well done to all involved! 

25th August 2022

A big welcome to 19 new pupils who have joined our school. Our new Junior Infants are: Isabelle, Morgan, Tadhg, Martha, Siún, Ian, Andy, Katja, Emmet, Sadie, Cathal, Alfie, Jeffrey and Kyle. Welcome also to Annie and Vova who joined Senior Infants, Patrick who joined our 4th Class and Liza and Nazar who are in 5th Class. We also extend a warm welcome to Ms. Emer McDonald who has joined our staff while Ms. O’Neill is on maternity leave. We hope you will all be very happy during your time in Scoil Naomh Bríd.

Anxiety Workshops for All classes and parents
On 14th June Sinead Flanagan visited our school for the day. All classes and teachers took part in Anxiety Workshops. Parents attended a workshop for parents in the evening time.

17th December 2021
We had a very special visitor arrive in school today! Santa paid a visit to see all of our wonderful pupils. He had presents for everyone. Thank you to the PA and Baltinglass Garda Station for making the visit possible. 
The children were also surprised with lovely candy cane pencils from the PA. 

Well done to all the lucky winners in the PA's Christmas Draw. 

14th December 2021
The Board of Management surprised all classes with an online Panto today. We all tuned into Panto Live's Performance of "Cinderella". Lots of fun and treats were enjoyed! 

6th December 2021
The Talbotstown Troopers purchased the Folens Christmas Annuals for all pupils. 

5th November 2021
The children will participate in a week long Food Dudes programme next week. Each day, the children will receive a portion of fruit and a portion of vegetables to taste. 

The Christmas Cards that were designed by the children have returned from the printers. Families can purchase packs of the cards up to Friday, 12th November. 

Stay Safe Lessons will begin in each class during the month of November. Parents can view lesson materials at the following link: www.staysafe.ie 

22nd October 2021
The pupils and staff dressed up for our annual Hallowe'en Day in school today. The children took part in many games and activities including an outdoor "Pumpkin Dash". 

1st October 2021
The children all enjoyed a Sports/Active Day today. 
In their class bubbles the children took part in different stations - volleyball, dodgeball, basketball, soccer, football, tag rugby & traditional Sports Day Races. 

24th September 2021
Today is the first Hot Dog Day of this school year. 
Money raised will be used to purchase new wet day games for all the classes. 

26th August 2021
Today we welcomed back all our pupils for a new school year.
A special welcome to our new Junior Infants: Annie, Ava, Béibhinn, Charlie, Chloe, Emileen, Liam & Rían and to Daniel who joined our 5th Class. We hope you will all be very happy in Scoil Naomh Bríd.

Today we also said a tearful farewell to our 14 fantastic 6th Class pupils. We wish them all the very best in secondary school and for a very bright future.

Thank you to our wonderful P.A. for organising a fantastic BBQ for all pupils and staff today. Thank you also to Denis for cooking up a storm for us.

Today we were crowned "Farm Safe Schools National Champions".  Well done to all the boys and girls on their super achievement. Thank you to Agri Aware and FBD for such a worthwhile programme and for the €2,ooo prize money. This money will be spent on the Wellbeing of all our pupils. 

31st of May 2021
We submitted our Farm Safe Schools project to Agri Aware today. Thank you to all the families who recorded videos for our project. Each of the 3 classrooms also recorded videos. We look forward to seeing if we will become accredited as a Farm Safe School.

24th May 2021
Stephen and Erin from Hangry for Hot Dogs surprised all pupils and staff today with lunch free of charge. Oisín was also on hand to help out. A big "Thank you" from all of us for your kindness and generosity.

The children enjoyed a Games and Mini Sport's Day in Kiltegan GAA Grounds. In their bubbles and pods the children took part in traditional races, an obstacle course, co-operative games, soccer on the astro pitch, ball games, tug of war and running games. We were so lucky with the weather! A big "Thank you" to Kiltegan GAA for the use of the grounds and the fabulous new Astro Pitch. The day ended with a surprise visit from the Ice-cream Van!

Zumba
We are delighted to have our Zumba classes with Patricia re-starting. 
All Zumba sessions for this year will take place outdoors.

Farm Safe School
We are delighted to be taking part in Agri Aware's pilot programme on Farm Safety. The children have been busy learning about farm safety and took part in webinars on Wednesday.

Now that all our pupils have returned to school, we hope remote learning will become a distant memory for us all.
We will continue to use Class Dojo to communicate with parents and to share classroom news and activities.

All pupils and staff dressed up as book characters to celebrate World Book Day.

Our Covid-19 Response Plan has been updated in line with new Government advice and guidelines.
An email was sent to all parents today containing information about returning to school.

Catholic Schools Week: 24th - 31st January 2021
The children will be celebrating this important week in our school year very differently this year. A video was uploaded to the School Story on Class Dojo for today's activity - A Prayer Box. Maeve explains the activity in the video clip. The children will upload their finished Prayer Boxes to their Class Dojo Portfolio. All boxes uploaded will be included in a school collage to send to Bishop Denis.
On Wednesday we will celebrate Grandparent's Day. A special message from Bishop Denis will be uploaded to the Class Dojo on Wednesday to mark this celebration. 

7th January 2021
Yesterday is was announced that schools would remain closed for the month of January 2021. Distance Learning will take place during this time. A copy of our Distance Learning Plan was distributed to parents in October following or Parental Survey and Staff feedback. A letter will be emailed to all parents today outlining our plans and preparations for the month of January. 

2nd January 2021
Following the announcement of the extended Christmas Holidays, we look forward to a safe return to school on Monday, 11th January. Please see the School Story on Class Dojo for information about a free Virtual Camp for children beginning on Monday, 4th January.

Fr. Pat organised two special Christmas prayer services for our school today. The children walked across to St. Brigid's Church where they took part in the prayer service and had the opportunity to view the beautiful crib. 

16th December 2020
We had a very special visitor arrive in our school yard this morning. Santa Claus, escorted by 2 members of Baltinglass An Garda Síochána, arrived while we happened to be outside! The children sang some Christmas songs for Santa and he very kindly left Selection Boxes for all the boys and girls. 

14th December 2020
Parents have in the past very kindly given Christmas gifts to staff members in the school. This year we suggested that anyone who was going to give a gift would donate something to a school hamper for Baltinglass Hospital. We were so delighted with the response from whole school community. Today, 4 large hampers as well as numerous gifts were brought to Baltinglass Hospital from the pupils, parents and staff of Scoil Naomh Bríd. 

11th December 2020
Outdoor Carols
While dressed in their Christmas jumpers, the children gathered in their pods and bubbles to perform Christmas songs under the guidance of Ms. Barrett. There was a great festive feeling in the air. As we were not in a position to perform for our parents this year a recording of Christmas songs was very kindly put together by Tracy & Billy Winder. The video has been shared with parents on our Class Dojo school story.

Christmas Jumper Day

Pupils and Staff came to school in their Christmas jumpers today. Everyone in a Christmas jumper made a donation to Crumlin Hospital. A fantastic €513.20 was raised! Well done to everyone and thank you for your generosity. 

26th November 2020
We held our 3rd monthly themed day today. This month's theme was Arts & Crafts. The children enjoyed a creative day in the classrooms today. Many beautiful pieces of art were created. Photos have been shared on the Class Dojo class story. 

16th November 2020
Congratulations to Sarah Rafferty who came 3rd in her age category in the recent Credit Union Art Competition. Well done to all the boys and girls who took part. 

9th November 2020

Our school has won €50,000 in the Aldi Play Rugby Sticker Competition.

Firstly, a HUGE “Thank you” to Aldi and all the families that brought in the Aldi Rugby Stickers. A win like this is something that we normally only dream about. It’s now a reality for us!

Coming back to school this year, we were preparing for a very different school year. While we had to accept that we would not be in a position to offer many of the activities that the children really look forward to, we were delighted to be able to return to teaching our fantastic pupils face to face. Aldi have now given us an opportunity to make changes to our school that will benefit all our pupils and pupils for years to come. The joy and excitement that this win has created for our school community could not have come at a better time.

The €50,000 must be used to develop our sports facilities and equipment. We will be looking into using this money to upgrade our P.E. equipment and develop our playing surface for the children.

23rd October 2020
A big "Thank you" to our wonderful PA for organising their annual 'Guess the Jellies' competition and for the Hallowe'en goodie bags for all the children. 
Our Dress Up Day was great fun. Well done to all the children, and staff, for the fantastic costumes. The school was full of more excitement and laughter than usual on Friday. A lovely sound to hear!
We hope everyone has a safe and happy Midterm break. 

22nd October 2020
Lots of preparations are underway for our Annual Hallowe'en Dress Up Day. Staff and pupils will come to school in Fancy Dress tomorrow for a fun-filled day. 

16th October 2020
This week, 12th - 16th October, was Maths Week in Ireland. The children in all classes took part in fun and creative maths lessons and activities. The children experienced a range of activities such as: Maths Trails, Maths Shape Hunts, Maths Shape Collage Pictures, Maths Quiz, Tangram Puzzles, Maths Logistic Puzzles, Creating their own Maths Board Games, Sudoku, Snap Maths Puzzles, Figure Me Out Posters and Maths Word Problem Puzzles. The children also tuned into Maths Week TV where they experienced fun activities led by mathematicians and mathemagicians! The children in the senior room tried out some of their maths magic tricks at home.
The most important message for all classes was: Learning = Fun.

Congratulations to the boys and girls in 3rd Class who received The Sacrament of The Eucharist for the first time today. Well done for all the hard work you have put into your preparations since we returned to school. We hope you all have a wonderful day.

European School Sport Day
This Friday, 25th September is European School Sport Day. Over 9,000 schools from across Europe are taking part. Scoil Naomh Bríd is registered to take part again this year. On Friday, the children will enjoy a day of fun physical activities and sports. Children will be placed in groups for these activities based on their "bubbles" and "pods". We look forward to a great day. 
Hot Dog Day
Our first Hot Dog Day of this school year will take place on Friday, 25th September. Orders can by placed up to Thursday. 

18th September 2020
The Stay Safe Programme will be taught in all classes during this term, beginning next week. Lesson content for all classes and an Information Guide for parents can be found at www.staysafe.ie  

11th September 2020:
Well done to the boys and girls in 3rd Class who received the Sacrament of Penance for the first time this evening. The children will now be busy preparing for their First Holy Communion. 

7th September 2020:

Advice for parents, in relation to when children should and should not attend school, has been updated by the HSE. A letter was sent to all parents today with these updates. All information contained in the letter can be found at:

4th September 2020:

The staff of Scoil Naomh Bríd would like to compliment all our wonderful pupils on their adherence to the new  guidelines and protocols in place in our school. Thank you to all parents for the important role you have played in this. 

26th August 2020:
All staff completed an Emergency First Aid Training Course prior to our return to school. 
We have been trained and certified in C.P.R., AED, Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction and Basic Emergency skills. 

19th August 2020:
All details in relation to our safe return to Scoil Naomh Bríd were sent to parents on 19th August. Relevant information and documents have been added to the dedicated "Return to School" page on our website. 
  • On Thursday, 27th August we look forward to welcoming Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st Class, 2nd Class & 3rd Class. 
  • On Friday, 28th August we look forward to welcoming 4th, 5th & 6th Class.
  • On Monday, 31st August we will have all our pupils safely back to school. 
Junior Infants will come to our school on Monday, 24th August, at their designated time, with their parents to meet their teacher and view their new classroom.
